1. FUWSH

FU We’re Still Here felt like the perfect way to open the record, reintroduce ourselves, and address criticism in a typically hip-hop way – by taking negative labels, repurposing them, owning them and sending them back out into the world. So that’s what this song is – a tongue-in-cheek response to negativity and a statement of intent. STAY ODD is about resilience, keeping on, and being happy to be yirsel. And that’s hopefully what this song is transmitting.

2. Night Rip

Track 2 – Night Rip – the mood for this song came out of a late late night studio session. The band had built this melancholy, electronic bed out of a Dunt beat then me and Veronika sat in the muted, dark of the studio with the track playing in the background and wrote a story about a couple who are both deciding to leave each other in the night without telling the other one; moonlight flitting, not realising the other is too. I love the doubled-up vocals between me and V in this. Kelman at Neon8 really brought the story to life in the shadow puppet music video. That was inspired by American artist Kara Walker’s incredible silhouette art. I drew some thought bubbles about the storyline and the way the song came together and Rydo arranged them over Matt’s single art for the book.
