So, it’s a new dawn, it’s a new day and all that. How’s it going friends?

I'm not the most prolific of bloggers, truth be told, but here's a wee hello for 2013 from Odd HQ.

First and foremost, an enormous thank-you to all the bloggers, journalists, radio folks and most importantly fans that got involved with us over the course of 2012. The past year has been our busiest and most exciting so far and we seriously appreciate anyone that took the time to come and jump about like loons at a live show, or bought the album, or generally ranted about us tae their mates.

So here’s a very quick run through the highlights of 2012 for Stanley Odd:

Celtic Connections

This was the most amazing start to the year, Celtic Connections showcases the widest diversity of music from Scotland and it was an honour to be involved. Plus we got to play at ABC in Glasgow, which was bananas. One love to the Peatbog Faeries. Check out more about Celtic Connections here.

Knockengorroch, Insider, Wickerman, Belladrum, Greenbelt...

Summer festivals are possibly our favourite time of year and to play at such a number of outstanding festivals this year was pretty effin good. We were blown away to see tents filling up and people shouting songs back at us so thanks and a round of applause to y’all for that. Watch a video featuring much festival madness here.

We spent almost the whole year working on our second album then released it and toured it in September and October. It’s been outstanding to see people coming along and getting excited about the new record and it was met with some pretty favourable reviews too, which is nice. Grab yer copy of Reject here.

Nordoff Robbins Tartan Clef Big Apple Award

This was the final hoorah for what has been a brilliant year for us. At the end of December we won the Nordoff Robbins Tartan Clef Big Apple Award, which will see us playing in New York on the 7th of April at the Bowery Ballroom supporting The View. To be going to New York – the home of hip-hop – and representing Scotland there during Tartan Week is amazing and we cannae wait. Read more from Music News Scotland here & find out more about Nordoff Robbins here.

End of year round ups

We feel pleased as punch to have been mentioned in a number of end-of-year round ups this year. Serious thanks to Alan Morrison for placing us 4th in the Herald’s Top 50 Albums of the Year. Thanks also to Scottish Fiction, National Collective, Ian Clem and anyone else that included us in their end-of-year list!

2013 – what next?

Well… the first thing that has us ridiculously excited for 2013 is that we have been invited back to play Celtic Connections again. What has us unable to contain said excitement is the fact that we’ll be playing with the Electric String Orchestra – an 11-piece string orchestra!!! That’s right folks, a full Stanley Odd set accompanied by an orchestra. The gig takes place on the 23rd of January at The Old Fruitmarket in Glasgow’s Merchant City so please come along and witness the spectacle. It’s gonnae be insane.

Gillian Provan from STV kindly caught up with us for a blether about the Celtic Connections gig - have a read here & Get tickets and more details here

After that we’ll be getting ready for out first trip to the USA to play in New York in April, then preparing for the usual summer of festival frivolity up and down the country.

We’ll also be working on lots of new material and making a start on a new album, which won’t be out until 2014 but fear not there will still be plenty of Stanley Odd new and old throughout the year.

Basically, keep yir eyes peeled and yir ears to the ground, ‘cause we’ve no plans of slowing down any time soon.

Peace peoples and hope 2013 is a good yin for one and all.
